Listed is the base hiring salary range offered for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to skills and experience. The salary range listed is just one component of the total rewards/compensation package offered to candidates.

Mid = $32.02
Max = $38.42

Summary:

The Supervisor Sterile Processing supervises a team in the daily operations of a sterilization department which includes decontamination, assembly of instrumentation, processing of instrumentation using the correct manner of sterilization, and delivery of instrumentation to multiple areas. The Supervisor ensures the sterilization team is in compliance with YRMC and Infection Control policies as well as meeting AAMI and AORN standards. The Sterile Supervisor educates and communicates with staff in regards to their job duties and expectations of an Instrument Technician in Sterilization. This individual coordinates monthly work schedule of staff and coaches staff and provides yearly evaluation of staff. The supervisor demonstrates expertise necessary to direct and train instrument technicians in all aspects of the sterilization process and department.


Responsibilities:

Accountable for ensuring appropriate inventory and routine ordering of departmental supplies including achieving and maintaining cost effective measures, monitoring the maintenance and condition of equipment and instrumentation, tracking and reducing lost instrumentation. Provides appropriate par levels of stock instrumentation, coordinating delivery of vendor supplies/equipment to ensure availability without loss. Monitors instrument trays for accuracy of completion and availability, tracking and reporting instrument processing and assembly errors, and reporting equipment operations errors.

Demonstrates knowledge and ensures competency and comprehension of all AAMI sterilization and departmental standards. Competent in the operation of all essential equipment required and in utilizing essential software required for the job such as SensiTrac, EPIC (as indicated), or other software program. Facilitates resolution of issues/concerns identified by physicians or staff related to instrumentation.

Provides assistance with the development, maintenance and compliance with departmental operating budgets and provides input into annual and strategic capital equipment budgets.

Accountable to provide human resource management for area of responsibility including, but not limited to ensuring appropriate staff are available to meet the needs of the unit, providing input into the selection process, setting clear work expectations and coaching employees as needed for success. Participates in the selection, orientation, supervision, continuing education, and evaluation of personnel. Adjusts staffing and work schedules to provide adequate coverage as related to workload and provides excellent internal and external customer service skills consistent with the organization's mission, vision, and values.

Prepares and analyzes departmental reports as requested to demonstrate efficient, cost effective and quality processes within department.

Monitors instrument trays for accuracy of completion and availability.

Monitors, tracks, and reports instrument processing and assembly errors as well as equipment operations errors.
