Summary:

Retail Pharmacy Operations Supervisor directs the drug distribution and medication management for retail services. This position manages daily operations, ensuring workflow efficiency, regulatory compliance, and excellent patient care by supervising pharmacists and technicians, handling staffing/scheduling, managing inventory, resolving complex issues, and implementing training, all while performing core pharmacist duties as needed. Key duties include staff development, performance management, budget oversight, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring adherence to state and federal laws, ultimately aiming for operational excellence and positive patient outcomes.


Responsibilities:

Recruit, hire, train, schedule, evaluate, and provide guidance for pharmacists and technicians, ensuring adequate staffing and high morale.

Oversee daily prescription processing, workflow, inventory management, ordering, and controlled substance handling, ensuring efficient and safe operations.

Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local pharmacy laws, regulations, and quality standards, including developing and implementing compliance policies.

Monitor medication errors, implement corrective actions, promote safe medication practices, resolve patient concerns, and collaborate on new initiatives to improve service.

Manage pharmacy budgets, review financials, approve payroll, handle invoices, and work with managers on goals and performance.

Serve as a communication link between leadership and staff, collaborating with nurses, doctors, and other departments to support patient care and business objectives. 

Facilitates and maintains functional and cross-functional relationships through effective communication, participation in meetings, collaborative education and ongoing daily interactions.
Demonstrates the leadership skills necessary to establish expectations, develop plans, to measure, assess, and improve the quality of care provided by staff and the pharmacy department as whole.

Minimum Requirements

Pharm.D. or B.S. Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy is standard.
Must hold a current, unrestricted state pharmacist license.
3+ years of retail pharmacy management experience
Strong people, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of pharmacy software, computer systems, and relevant industry products.
Excellent time management, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
Ability to work independently and handle high-pressure situations.
