Summary:

In addition to the Medical Assistant job duties, the Medical Assistant II is competent and would be cross-trained across YRMC Ambulatory Division’s outpatient specialty care. While some patient care and clinical documentation falls under ‘standard work’ regardless of location, there are specialty clinics for which additional training and increased responsibility will be expected from members of the Medical Assistant II. Examples include Otolaryngology; Women’s Health; Pediatrics; CRS; Outpatient Services; Foothills Walk in Clinic; Foot & Ankle; Orthopedics; Family Medicine; Urology and General Surgery.


Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include clinical compliance in sterilization techniques, immunization oversight including administration and documentation, OSHA requirements, and other compliance standards required within the clinical realm of the practice. 

Use of Computers, telephone, fax machine, copier, stethoscope, EKG machine, pulse oximeter, oxygen devices, wheelchairs, stretchers, scales, glucose monitor, and other patient care equipment necessary to perform required duties as appropriate to the scope of the practice. 

Cross-trained to meet the business needs and provide Medical Assistant duties across YRMC Ambulatory Division’s outpatient specialty care.

Examples include Otolaryngology; Women’s Health; Pediatrics; CRS; Outpatient Services; Foothills Walk in Clinic; Foot & Ankle; Orthopedics; Family Medicine; Urology and General Surgery. 

Work location may change during the workday to meet the business needs of the areas. 

Work under the direct supervision of the physician, mid-level licensed provider, practice manager, and in cooperation with other office staff in assisting with safe and effective patient care in compliance with established standards and protocols of Yuma Regional Medical Center. 

Responsible for routine back office functions including oversight of patient throughput, exam room preparation and turnover, escorting patients to exam room, collection and recording of basic medical history, and assisting the provider and/or nurse as needed. 

Responsible for retrieving, screening, routing, and assisting with provider/nurse messages regarding patient telephone calls, messages, and callbacks; identifying laboratory results, which require Provider attention; and prescription refills as directed by the provider.

Essential:
* BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS)
* ARIZONA FINGERPRINT CLEARANCE
* YRMC FLEET SAFETY CLEARANCE (FLEET)
* Medical Assistant Credential

Education:
Essential:
* HS DIPLOMA/GED

Other information:

REQUIRED: 1+ years related experience and Fleet Safety Clearance requirement

High School Equivalency Diploma

Medical Assistant Certification

Fingerprint Clearance Card
BLS (AHA)
