Summary:

The Project Manager II provides leadership for large, complex initiatives that support organizational strategy and enterprise priorities. This role is responsible for planning and leading projects that span multiple departments, service lines, or operational functions and require coordination across diverse stakeholder groups. The incumbent partners with executive sponsors, business owners, and operational leaders to establish project frameworks using standard project management methodologies. Project Manager II is accountable for developing project plans, coordinating cross-functional resources, managing risk, and guiding decision-making to ensure the successful delivery of initiatives within defined scope, timeline, and quality expectations. Projects assigned to this role typically have a broad operational impact, involve multiple stakeholders or service lines, and require significant coordination across the organization. Project Manager II plays a key role in translating strategic priorities into actionable project plans while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and enterprise performance objectives. In addition to leading enterprise initiatives, Project Manager II contributes to the oversight and coordination of the organizational project portfolio by supporting project prioritization, mentoring Project Coordinators, and promoting consistent application of project management standards, tools, and methodologies.


Responsibilities:

Project Ownership and Coordination Leads large, complex projects that support strategic initiatives and enterprise priorities. Projects typically involve multiple departments, service lines, and operational stakeholders and require coordination across functional areas of the organization. Partners with executive sponsors and business owners to define project objectives, scope, timelines, and expected outcomes. Develops comprehensive project plans that outline key milestones, resource requirements, risk mitigation strategies, and implementation approaches. Guides project teams through the full project lifecycle while maintaining alignment with organizational priorities and operational goals.

Stakeholder Communication Builds and maintains strong working relationships with executive sponsors, department leaders, physicians, and operational stakeholders to ensure alignment and engagement throughout the project lifecycle. Facilitates cross-functional collaboration and supports informed decision-making by communicating project progress, risks, and key milestones to stakeholders and leadership. Navigates organizational dynamics and competing priorities to support project success and enterprise alignment. Develops and distributes project updates, meeting summaries, and progress reports to support transparency, alignment, and informed decision-making. Partners with business owners to ensure project tasks remain organized, prioritized, and on schedule while identifying and escalating risks or constraints that may impact scope, timeline, or outcomes.

Project Execution and Risk Management Monitors project performance against scope, schedule, and outcome expectations while proactively identifying and addressing risks, barriers, and dependencies that may impact project delivery. Facilitates structured problem-solving and decision-making to address complex operational challenges. Ensures appropriate escalation of issues when necessary and supports teams in developing effective solutions that maintain project momentum.

Financial and Operational Impact Demonstrates accountability for financial and operational outcomes associated with enterprise initiatives. Supports the development and management of project budgets when applicable and works collaboratively with stakeholders to identify opportunities that improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, or enhance service delivery. Maintains awareness of healthcare financial principles and organizational resource constraints when planning and executing projects.

Project Portfolio Coordination Supports the effective management of the organizational project portfolio by contributing to project intake processes, prioritization discussions, and reporting activities. Promotes the consistent use of project management standards, methodologies, and tools across enterprise initiatives. Maintains project documentation and contributes to organizational learning by capturing lessons learned and best practices that improve future project delivery.

Organizational Collaboration Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills through effective collaboration with physicians, staff, and leadership. Builds productive cross-departmental relationships to support project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and successful initiative implementation. Contributes to a respectful and collaborative work environment while supporting the purpose, values, and service standards of the organization.

Operational Excellence Demonstrates the ability to organize and prioritize work, manage multiple responsibilities, and follow through on commitments to achieve project objectives. Applies sound judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills to identify challenges and support effective solutions. Maintains accountability for assigned projects and ensures timely completion of project deliverables in alignment with organizational goals and project expectations.

Requirements:

  • BACHELOR'S DEGREE
  • PMP Certification
  • Two (2) years of experience managing projects at an enterprise level
  • Experience managing projects in a healthcare environment
