Summary:
The Clinical Nurse Director of the Behavioral Health Unit and Intensive Outpatient Program is responsible for the overall leadership and operation of the facility’s services, departments, budget and functions, subject to oversight by the Board of Directors and Medical Group. Under the direction of the Behavioral Health Administrative Director or Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the Clinical Nurse Director of Behavioral Health Services is responsible for providing and managing staff and material resources that are necessary for effective patient care delivery for assigned unit(s). The Clinical Nurse Director applies critical reasoning, and sound decision-making skill sets to ensure patients receive the highest quality of care. The Clinical Nurse Director will oversee Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) day-to-day clinical and budgetary operations, lead, develop, and train clinical staff, evaluate and update unit policies, and evaluate and improve clinical procedures to ensure the best care is delivered to Onvida Behavioral Health Hospital patients and families. In collaboration with the Administrative Director or CNO, the Clinical Nurse Director will plan, direct, coordinate and evaluate all patient care activities and services to promote clinical excellence. The Clinical Nurse Director will be accountable for achieving clinical service excellence and unit financial goals; effective human resources management; quality assurance and performance improvement; regulatory compliance; and staff competency and development. In addition, the Clinical Nurse Director will serve as a leader and role model for staff and will be an active participant in organizational and nursing department decision-making. All duties to be done in accordance with Federal and State regulations, Onvida Healthcare's Mission, policies and procedures and Performance Improvement Standards.

Responsibilities:

Manages the day-to-day operations of the Hospital, including control, utilization, and conservation of its physical and financial assets with the Administrative Director. Leading and managing the BH nursing team. Participate in Marketing, including attending committees/task forces, speaking engagements, health fairs.

Reviews and advice on the preparation of annual budget showing the hospital's expected receipts and expenditures; managing the administrative and operational duties of the unit, including staff education and schedules. Ensuring clinical service excellence. Maintains effective communication with staff, colleagues and medical staff.

Manages the ongoing functions of the Hospital by recruiting, employing, and directing adequate numbers of appropriately trained professional and auxiliary personnel, including delegating duties appropriately.

Leading, developing and supervising clinical staff including on-call availability to staff as needed. Evaluates and updates unit policies and processes. Monitors staff performance and intervene appropriately to improve clinical processes.

Assist in developing reports describing the Hospital's operations, (iv) reports evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of the Hospital or its program activity, and (v) budgets and financial statements. 

Attends all meetings of the Behavioral Health Medical Staff; cooperates with the Medical Staff and works to secure like cooperation on the part of all those concerned with the rendering of professional service to the end that the best possible care may be rendered to all patients. Coordinates patient satisfaction/customer service unit-based initiatives.

Complies with Federal and State statutes and regulations in the performance of his/her duties; Assures that appropriate policies, plans and goals are effectively communicated to all staff members; Assures that leadership assesses patient flow issues within the hospital, the impact on patient safety and mitigation of that impact.

Determines which care, treatment or services are provided directly and which are provided through consultation, contract or other agreement in conjunction with OHMG and Legal.
