Summary:
The CPI Training Lead serves as the primary subject matter expert and operational owner of the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) program at Onvida Health. This full-time role is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and delivering CPI training programs that support workplace violence prevention and promote a safe environment for patients, visitors, and workforce members. Reporting to the Supervisor of Training & Development, the CPI Training Lead provides leadership and direction to CPI Instructors, ensures fidelity to CPI curriculum standards, and serves as the central point of accountability for CPI program quality, scheduling, certification, and compliance. In addition to facilitating training, this role oversees instructor readiness, consistency, and ongoing program improvement.
Responsibilities:
CPI Program Leadership & Oversight: Serves as the organizational lead for the CPI program, ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery aligned with CPI standards and Onvida Health priorities. Provides day-to-day coordination and oversight of CPI training activities, including instructor assignments, scheduling, and program logistics. Acts as the primary liaison between Onvida Health and the Crisis Prevention Institute.
Training Facilitation & Instruction: Facilitates CPI-certified workplace violence prevention training sessions, including Advanced Physical Skills, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, and Verbal Intervention, for clinical and non-clinical staff. Ensures a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment during all CPI training sessions. Models best practices in de-escalation, physical safety, and learner engagement
Instructor Leadership & Quality Assurance: Provides functional leadership and guidance to CPI Instructors, supporting consistency, preparedness, and adherence to CPI curriculum. Supports onboarding, mentoring, and ongoing readiness of CPI Instructors, including monitoring certification status and instructional quality. Observes training sessions as needed and provides feedback to ensure instructional excellence and consistency.
Program Coordination & Administration: Coordinates CPI training schedules in partnership with Organizational Development and Training & Development leadership. Ensures accurate tracking and documentation of CPI training completion, attendance, and certification requirements within organizational systems and CPI platforms. Maintains training equipment, materials, and supplies, ensuring proper use, tracking, and return.
Compliance, Safety & Continuous Improvement: Ensures CPI training programs meet organizational policies, safety standards, and applicable regulatory expectations. Reviews participant feedback and training data to identify trends, opportunities, and recommendations for program improvement. Supports audits, reporting, and documentation related to workplace violence prevention training.
Collaboration & Communication: Communicates regularly with the Organizational Development and Training & Development teams regarding program needs, scheduling, and updates. Partners with clinical and operational leaders to support workforce readiness related to de-escalation and safety training. Partners with the Workplace Violence Prevention Committee, reports out on training completions, and provides insights to grow the CPI training program to address workplace violence prevention needs. Attends and participates in the Workplace Violence Prevention Month events ensuring a training presence at pop ups when possible. Escalates risks, concerns, or resource needs to the Supervisor of Training & Development as appropriate.

2-3 of experience in training, healthcare, behavioral health, public safety, law enforcement, or a related field.
